Wounded Rhymes-Lykke Li
I started listening to Lykke Li a few years ago after hearing the song, ‘A Little Bit.’ Her voice is super different than a lot of other artists. Her style would suggest that she is maybe partially Asian(?), but she’s actually swedish and her real name is Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson (which I just shamefully copy and pasted). I kind of wish I had a name like that…
This album is fantastic. It’s much different from the Youth Novels album. In this album, she’s a lot more bare with her feelings and motives. It’s not as soothing and dancey as Youth Novels, it has a lot more kick to it. The song, ‘Get Some’ is kind of interesting, because she basically calls herself a prostitute. Lykke talks about the power that sex has on people. Before you hear that though, she is talking about unrequited love and being young ‘n stuff. But I like that about her, that the are many facets to who she is.
Sweden is a lot deeper than swedish fish and IKEA. Buy this album.
